The Council of the European Union is the body that represents the voice of EU governments. Its members are ministers from all EU countries, depending on a given policy area. The Council’s task is to adopt EU legislation and coordinate EU policies, which requires the hard work of many officials on a daily basis. In addition to ministerial meetings, the Council therefore holds a number of working group meetings, bringing together experts in a given field to work together on legislation that meets the interests of individual member states. The aim of such meetings is usually to discuss drafts of legislative acts and amendments. <\/p>\n

I have had the pleasure of working in the Council at such meetings on a number of occasions, including a meeting of the Horizontal Working Party on Drugs. <\/p>\n
