I worked in Beijing for representatives of the European Parliament’s Committee on the Environment on a several-day mission devoted to the environment and China’s emission trading policy. The Parliament was looking at what the Chinese Government is doing to combat excessive carbon emissions and comply with the provisions of the climate agreement. They also learned more about China’s emission trading system, which is similar to the EU’s ETS system that has been in place for years as one of the tools for reducing emissions.
We had many discussions with representatives of the Chinese authorities, both in modern office buildings and at dinner tables, tasting delicious Chinese food.
